Drut Recordings are proud to welcome a promising new artist to the label for his debut release ‘In Spite of Darkness’, an EP of beautifully recorded ambient and modern classical pieces. Kit Parker grew up in Perth, Australia, the most isolated capital city on Earth, and music was the way Kit Parker connected with the world. Now a graduate of the University of Western Australia's Conservatorium of Music, he is a fully accomplished composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Kit spent the majority of his training focussing on ambient music, obsessed with
the blending of acoustic and electronic timbres. He came top of his class at the Conservatorium and was described as having “exceptional approaches” to composition, drawing comparisons to Brian Eno and Jóhan Jóhannsson.

In Spite Of Darkness explores the concept of loss and aims to reveal the beauty behind this complex emotion. The ethos behind the composition of this work was that each piece should provide listeners with a space to think. The EP features the performance of Kit Parker, Robert Tweedie (piano) and Cass Evans-Ocharern (double bass), and closes with a remix by Drut Recordings founder Kelpe.
